Am I the Same “Good Morning” Person?

When Edward, my younger sister and I were handing out Smith’s School of English Ohtsu (スミス英会話大津校) flyers at  JR Ishiyama  station (石山駅) in the morning, something fun happened.
Three high school girls passed by me so I said, “Good morning! How are you?” Usually, at least one of them would say “Good morning” back since they [...]

A Visitor at Smith’s School of English Tsukaguchi

Teaching English in Japan to my wonderful students is great! I have such nice students at my English conversation school(英会話), Smith’s School of English Tsukaguchi(スミス英会話塚口校) . It’s  located in what is also my home, Tsukaguchi(塚口) in Amagasaki City(尼崎市), Hyogo Perfecture(兵庫県), Japan. Smith’s teachers from other Smith’s schools are also very nice and like me, have [...]

On August 2nd and 3rd, I went to “Hamaotsu Summer Festa” hosted in my hometown, Otsu (大津), Shiga (滋賀).
This is one of my favorite annual events in Japan.
At the festival, we could enjoy a live Jazz concert performed on an outdoor stage, which was temporarily built right by the biggest lake in Japan, Lake Biwa.
Just like any other Japanese [...]

Record Month at Smith’s School of English Ohtsu

In January I set a goal for myself and Smith’s School of English Ohtsu:
“In 2009, I will improve on ALL of the “local promotion numbers” from 2008″
What this means is that if we had an advertising budget of say 20$ in January 2008, we would increase that number in January of 2009 to say 30$.
As [...]

It seems to me this has been a year for weddings in our wonderful little community. 2 of our students at SSE Ohtsu have gotten married this year, and 2 others have been proposed to by the [now] fiancees. Also, Adam from SSE Sakai Higashi and his lovely wife Mayumi had a traditional Japanese style [...]

On the 20th of December, Smith’s School of English, Ohtsu (スミス英会話大津) held a Christmas Party at our favorite local restaurant, Tokorogadokkoi (Alplaza Otsu 6F). SSE Ohtsu students, friends and families gathered for this special event and enjoyed fantastic meals, drinks, and each other’s company.
The party started with Edward’s speech in JAPANESE and then everyone introduced himself/herself in ENGLISH. It was a good opportunity for [...]
