Power of the Franchise Revealed!

This week I had two students start who transferred from other Smith’s School (Otsu and Kotoen). This really brought home the meaning and the power of the franchise to me and it is something anyone thinking about starting an English school in Japan should consider carefully.
If I were out there on my own, I [...]

My English School Never Stands Still

My English school in Ohtsu does well. I live comfortably and am very content with what I do. I never have to work too hard, and I have the freedom to do as I please, teach as and when I please, and relax accordingly.
Possibly one of the most difficult parts of running your own business [...]

スミス英会話鶴橋校:Communication = Teamwork = Results. Sharing ideas at Ohtsu

One of the best things about the most recent Smith’s owner’s seminar was the chance to meet the other school owners for the first time. Both Mike and I have only recently become owners, so it was essential that we visited another school to chat with the owners about issues relating to marketing, curriculum use [...]

Smith’s School of English Seminar

Last Sunday I attended a Smith’s School of English seminar in Osaka, Japan. I always enjoy seeing fellow English franchise school owners at seminars. I also appreciate getting advice and direction from Smith’s School of English founder Mark Smith on how to grow and improve my English school, Smith’s School of English Tsukaguchi. Thank you very much Mark!

I showed my last student how to pronounce “er” and “ir” (which have the same pronunciation) and “th” while doing a Smith’s Routine called “The Restaurant”, [...]

Funny Santa Claus Doll 愉快なサンタ人形

In the entrance of my school above shoes shelves, there’s a flat surface. I keep flyers and brochures from local businesses which I do exchanges with there. Every year before Christmas, I put Christmas stuff there too. I have a mini Christmas tree with ornaments. I also have a small Santa Claus doll standing there. Last Friday, a [...]
