Happy New Year everybody! I had a great winter vacation. I spent a wonderful time with family in the Florida Keys, Florida, U.S.A. and Okayama Perfecture, Japan. Having had a great break and feeling refreshed, I am ready to start my job teaching English in Japan to wonderful students again. 2011 was a great year [...]

Hello all! (^.^)/ December is under way and it’s almost the end the year. December is quite a busy month for Japanese. I wrote a post on this last year. I invite you to read my post by clicking here. I enjoy holding events for students, either Smith’s School of English Tsukaguchi only events or joint events with other Smith’s schools. All events are great opportunities for Smith’s English conversation (英会話) students to practice their English, meet other students, make new friends, enjoy good food and have a great time with their teachers outside the classroom. [...]
On June 4, a Smith’s School of English Tsukaguchi student and I watched Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides together. This student invites me to watch a movie with him a few times a year and I always enjoy our outings together. We can enjoy each others’ company, watch good movies and it gives [...]

On days off I [...]

I have some free time before I teach my next lesson so I thought I’d come and tell you about my last lesson today. I taught present continuous tense to two students, one of whom began studying with me just last week. I pretended calling them by telephone and asking them what they were doing. [...]
The Smith’s Golden Week holiday was from April 24 to May 5 and I really enjoyed it. I spent part of my holiday in Okayama Prefecture where Akemi, my Japanese wife is from. I had a really good time with family and spoke lots of Japanese with them which was very good for me. I [...]
As an English teacher teaching English in Japan, it is always great to hear about a Smith’s School of English Tsukaguchi student using English outside the classroom. This week, a gave a trial lesson to a lady who was introduced to my school by a long-time student of mine. I am very thankful to my [...]
Here in Japan, the beginning of spring is marked by the blossoming of cherry blossoms (sakura). Japan offers a large variety of cherry blossoms, both early blooming ones and late blooming ones that are a lovely sight to the eyes. I love the way Japanese people sit under cherry trees in full bloom to eat, drink, talk [...]
