スミス 英会話 布施 校 生徒様のブログ (ニュージーランドからKia Ora 2009年2月)

The February 2009 edition of “Kia Ora from New Zealand”, which is my student’s blog in Japanese, is now up!

However first I’d like to point out some interesting topics which developed on the blog following the January 2009 posting.

Some students posed questions on what is the purpose for studying English if not for business or international travel, while others who are interested in working overseas sometime in the future posed more detailed questions about how to best prepare for this, including seeking qualifications.

“Non” took the time to answer all the questions and… to provide her advice on the topics as someone who pursued her dream and brought it to fruition.
I think there is a lot of useful and practical information there for our students and I encourage you to share it with them, especially those who are considering going overseas for work or study.

Smiths School of English students can benefit greatly from our advice and information but I believe such first-hand experience from someone who started out here in Japan can also be invaluable.

In her latest posting she shares her thoughts and observations regarding the “global recession” we hear so much about these days and also suggests how the study of English will serve to increase the opportunities made available to those either preparing to enter the job market or looking to make a transition, but especially to those who might be considering a more “international career.”

These are just some of the topics which she has highlighted in this edition.  As always, comments and questions posed back are always welcome.

This is another fun and informative article in the series “Kia Ora from New Zealand” guaranteed to start some interesting discussions in the classroom.

Please encourage your students to read it and also to write back with questions and comments.

Oh! In case you’re wondering why the picture of the yacht is included here, ask your students to check out the Japanese blog and let you know!

    Alex-

You and your student have opened up a wonderful and useful dialogue here that is obviously benefitting a lot of students here in Japan and abroad. Nice work!

    Alex,

This is a great series that your student is making. I hope many of my students will also read it. I will send the link to many of them.

    Thanks,
    Al SSE-Okamoto
