Hula Dancing in Japan フラダンス in Japan

On Saturday my wife and I were lucky enough to attend a Hula dancing performance that two Smiths School of English Sakai Higashi students were participating in. It was a very nice afternoon held at the NHK Hall, Osaka.

I have never seen any live hula dancing before, and I must say that it was different to what I had expected. It was very peaceful and calming and yet the colours of the costumes were very bright and vibrant.

Thank you to my students who provided tickets for us. I promised them I would upload some pictures of them onto this site. I know it will give them a kick to see themselves on my computer at their next lesson.

    Tim-

I saw some live hula dance a few weeks ago and it was my first time as well. Couldn’t agree with you more- very mellow. Seems to be the season. Oddly, we also have a student at SSE Ohtsu who does hula. Obviously very popular in Japan.

    Tim,

You are really enjoying living and teaching English in Japan. It really shows. You have very kind students who are enjoying life and I am sure your lessons as well. Keep up the good work! Enjoy, inspire and help your students to reach the highest level possible.

    Al, SSE Okamoto
