Happy Birthday to me at Smith’s School of English

Well I guess it’s about time for an update to my testimonial here.

I am now 33 years old and I am running three schools.

I just wanted to post a short story here about something really special which one of my students did for me recently!

I like to make a note of my student’s birthdays and several of them somehow also know mine.

Well, about a week ago I received the following message from a student:

“Hi Alex
I have a question!☆ but its late
though…

If you don’t’ mind me bringing it, tell me what kind of cake you like.

lemon cake, um…….. can’t remember what I can bake…
some of them are rounded and some of them are square.

Do you mind if I bring cake in class? For your Birthday

like… cheese cake, cheese cake with pumpkin, chocolate cake, orange cake,

If you have any request, tell me! (not only the ones above)

See you~”

I have a weakness for chocolate so I humbly suggested a chocolate cake and would you believe my student came to class a few days later with the most delicious decadent hand-made chocolate cake I have ever tasted!

After opening the cutely wrapped box and admiring this work of art I couldn’t resist so I grabbed three paper plates, napkins and teaspoons (nearest utensils in sight) and the two students and myself each enjoyed a piece of chocolate cake before our group lesson!

The cake was amazing and I enjoyed the rest of it over the following three days.

I was so impressed that one of my students cared enough to take the time to ask me what kind of cake I would like for my birthday and then make it all by hand and carry it to class; on a day when it was pouring rain outside because a typhoon was passing through!

I was left speechless and this caring act once again reminded me of the many special moments I have been able to share with my students over the past three years at Smith’s School of English.

Now if you think my birthday cake story was cool; check out what Craig Drayton over at Smith’s School of English Otsu recently wrote!
