Job Description

This position entails working part-time in a comfortable, boutique-type, minimum stress environment at a Smith’s School of English location. The student body is comprised of both adult and children’s classes.

Full training and support will be provided to ensure that you fully understand what is expected of you at all times, and to provide you with confidence in fulfilling your tasks.

At its heart Smith’s is a franchise system and as such does not own schools as profit centers. Therefore most teachers working within the Smith’s organization would be working for a franchise owner. However, The company does operate one demonstration school which act as a role model for all franchises. It is also used as a test bed for new theories and developments to be introduced to the entire franchise system. We’re sure you’ll find working in this environment challenging and rewarding.

This is a part time teaching position Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday for a total of 12 hours weekly.

This is a temporary cover position intended to start July 17th and tentatively ending August 20th. At the end of the cover shift period, we will review alternate teaching positions if additional/continued employment is desired.

Extra hours can be provided by working with the manager in performing additional tasks, such as distributing flyers or administrative duties.

The teacher working in this position will be working closely with the school manager, and have full access to the owner at any time, as well as full access to our professional secretarial staff.

This position is suited for someone interested in working at professional English conversation school, particularly (but not exclusive to) those who’s interest extends beyond just teaching and into administrative or marketing fields as well.

We are looking for a motivated, well-groomed, responsible individual who is interested in working and learning in a fun, entrepreneurial environment.

Remuneration

Minimum start is Yen 1,562 per hour, plus transportation costs of up to 1,000 yen per day.

At this rate, someone working 40 hours per week would earn a Japanese income of JPY 3,000,000 per year.

Preferred qualifications

Prior teaching experience in Japan is preferred, but not a prerequisite.

You will need to have the necessary qualifications to enable Smith's School of English to provide sponsorship of your work visa.
