Job Description

The school’s previous owners are two nice British ladies who created a very personal environment. It is often described as a quaint, “Laura Ashley”, cups of tea, “Say when” kind of experience. Couple that with a student body that is primarily female and you have a generally quiet, relaxed, non-aggressive but productive learning environment. If this environment sounds comfortable and acceptable to you please say so in your application.
Full training and support will be provided to ensure that you fully understand what is expected of you at all times, and to provide you with confidence in fulfilling your tasks.
The position is currently for 2 days per week (7 hours total) on Thursday and Saturday afternoon finishing by 6:30PM. There is potential to increase those hours as the school continues to grow.
Extra hours can be provided by working with the owner in performing additional tasks, such as distributing flyers.
The teacher working in this position will be working closely with the school manager, and have open communication access to the owner, as well as full access to our professional secretarial staff 51 hours a week. This position is especially suited to someone who is looking to supplement their current work schedule with additional hours and experiences.
We are looking for a motivated, well-groomed, responsible individual who is interested in working and learning in a fun, entrepreneurial environment.
Remuneration
Minimum start is 1,562JPY per hour, plus transportation costs of up to 1,000 yen per day.
At this rate, someone working 40 hours per week would earn a Japanese income of JPY 3,000,000 per year.
Preferred qualifications
Prior teaching experience in Japan is preferred, but not a prerequisite. You will need to have the necessary qualifications to enable Smith's School of English to provide sponsorship of your work visa. Please see our FAQ page for more details ( http://www.sse-franchise.com/faq.shtml )
We will read every offer of interest received. The position is a well worked closed cell and therefore enables a clear understanding of responsibility and little room for error that will damage the school or cause you stress. If you think you have what it takes to work within an entrepreneurial school that focuses on the twin goals of student education and profitability, then come on and give it a go.
