Job Description

Smith’s school of English is an English conversation school franchise system. Smith’s system of schools has maintained a continually growing presence and profitability throughout Japan. We provide highly motivated and professional teaching personnel to highly motivated students.

This position entails part-time employment in a comfortable, boutique-type, minimum stress environment at a Smith’s School of English location. Your student body will be comprised predominantly of adults and more recently, dependant upon location, some children’s classes.

Full training and support will be provided to ensure that you fully understand what is expected of you at all times, and to provide you with confidence in fulfilling your tasks.

A Smith’s Coach of Communicative Confidence provides professional care for those wishing to improve their English conversation ability.

Required qualifications include:

  • Demonstrated commitment in coaching communicative confidence to a Japanese student body using the English language as your medium.
  • Desire to share Smith’s School of English’ entrepreneurial spirit and continue to build upon your location’s existing profitability.

Extra hours can be provided by supporting the owner in performing additional tasks, ranging through local promotion, administrative duties, accounting, reporting and student welfare status reviews.

The teacher selected for this position will liaise closely with the school owner and will have full access to Smith’s professional support staff.

We are looking for a motivated, well-groomed, responsible individual who is interested in participating and learning in a fun, entrepreneurial environment.

Remuneration

Minimum start is Yen 1,562 per hour, plus transportation costs of up to 1,000 yen per day.

At this rate, someone working a standard 40 hours per week would earn a Japanese income of JPY 3,000,000 per year.

Preferred qualifications

Prior teaching experience in Japan is preferred, but not a prerequisite.

In the event that you need work visa sponsorship, you will need to have the necessary qualifications to enable Smith's School of English to provide sponsorship of your work visa.
